Next Gen Question: Will Coupe be available in 2013? Or hatch only?

Hi All,

I'm new to this forum and wanted to ask a quick question regarding the Next Generation 1 series. I am thinkiing of making the switch from my 350z into a 135i and was wondering if there's a complete redesign happening in 2013?

I have seen the upcoming revisions for the 2012 135i and I think they they look great, but I don't want to make a quick decision and order one if a complete overall is coming that I'm unaware of.

Anyone have some inside scoop?? Please excuse if this is a repost.

If consumers want the coupe (and they do) BMW will make one.

I don't expect to see the new coupé model until some time in late 2012 as a 2013 model, at least in North America.

Ok - anyone know of anything posted or articles documenting that there will be a next generation coupe in 2013?

The 3/5dr will Be unveiled this year on the IAA un Frankfurt in fall.
But here's the problem. The 'old' one series was a first, and coupe/vert versions came very late, later then they will with the new f20. So we lack experience in the production circle as we have with the 3 series and it's versions. But I guess coupe/vert will be available late 2013 early 2014. Plus, I can't remember seeing any coupe or vert mule or prototype.

The reason why the Coupe and Cabrio came later in the first cycle of 1er.
Was down to the car entering a new segment that it had to "established" before expansion could be considered. This period takes about two years to deem whether the car is or not successful.

Because the 1er is now in it's second generation the cycle will be shorter with the new car (Coupe) appearing 14-16 months later.

Hi Scott,

are you sure about this?

That would mean: Since F20 is coming 2nd half of 2011, the F22 will already debut late 2012???
I did expect the Coupe about one year later (end of 2013) ... but since you are the insider here ... good to hear it's coming end next year!
