so let me get this straight...

1. the sedan will be a 3 series
2. the coupe will be a 4 series
3. the coupe will be a m3 even though it's a 4 series
4. there is no sedan m3...but magically there it is

Here is a rare pre-production image of the new F30 M3 electrical turbo in BMW development!! It has been reported that these will be mounted directly on the cold air intake and the massive two stage electrical switch will be connected directly via cable to the gas pedal! Above 3/4 WOT the cable will actuate first stage 1, then later at WOT stage 2 boost.

Thinking of the "electric turbo" as a supercharger, since that's really what it is, will make your head hurt less.

And 24mpg??? Mine never broke 15.

The performance is the end all of what you want out of an M3, but it is also nice to have fuel economy as well.

Remember the M3 is not a full on sports car, its also a DD for many people as well as it seats 4 with a large trunk.

I like the tri turbo concept since it should produce gobs of torque at low RPM and gobs of power at high rpm. The only sound I care about is the sound of fast. Let's hope for no gas guzzler tax on this one.

I wonder if the tri turbo turns out to be a twin scroll turbo plus an electric "turbo". After all, BMW calls the system "twin power turbo" now without regard to how many turbochargers are in use.

The funny thing is i knew a guy that hooked a gas powered leafblower up to the intake of an old junker chevy Malibu. It did a burnout all the way down the street...something blew or melted soon thereafter....
