At 0:29 minutes in the video, it seems to me that it sounds like a 335i with an exhaust. The BMW Performance Exhausts sounds like that when coupled with downpipes. I think it could very well be an inline-6 with an aggressive exhaust.

And yes, I read the whole thread. My point is that no one knows enough about a car that cannot be purchased for two years to say anything too final. How do you know the gas mileage will be better ? Have you driven both ? ![]()

sounds like v6... my call: 3.3L tri-power turbo set up w ~ 11:1 compression ratio... Small electric compressor feeds twin scroll and then twin scroll feeds larger diameter Garrett turbo... W wastegates in place to divert exhaust flow from smaller turbos at lower rpm which equates to better low rpm sound or dual twin scroll w cross cylinder bank manifold set up similar to m5 engine... And I'm sure they'll find a way to include the air/ water heat exchangers from m5 set up

Obviously this is not a production exhaust, production car won't sound anything like this.
Also, what do you expect a turbocharged six cylinder engine to sound like? The GTR is very quiet. |

I hate to say it, but I'm not a fan at all of the new M3 coming out with a turbo charged inline 6 cylinder. BMW paid a lot of money to fix the problems with the turbos, fuel pumps, and injectors on the 535 and 335's. What they should have done was taken the old S54 engines from the E46 M3 and instead of turbo charging their current engines. If they had done that they would have saved a lot of money and alleviated a lot of problems for customers and service departments. Now the Germans are going backwards again. Sure the people that own the E46 M3's would be upset, but it would have definitely made the 335 alot more desireable over the 328. The E92 M3, the M5 V10, and M6 V10 are going to be by far the most desired M cars ever built, because they are something people love the most about BMW. They were all naturally aspirated engines and you could extract even more power than something that is already turbo or supercharged.
