I realize you have a raised swept back 'V' on the hood, just looking for more definition. A 'dome is part of the M3's design vocabulary.

It makes the car more aggressive.

This is a M powered car. It needs the power dome and functional hood scoops at least. Also, the fender flares need to be more pronounced at least the rear ones. It should not just look like a 335i performance model.
No need for the dome since it will be an I6 and added turbos

scott26 If you think it's interesting please take it to BMW and tell M that the design is already done

I feel the same way, will hang on to my e92 and quietly will change my wife's MB C350 4MATIC in for a C63 AMG hopping she will never know the difference hahaha

I second that re: hood ... it will look nice without the dome more like the former e46, no need for the dome since engine will be a smaller one still powerful just a bit smaller from a dimensional perspective.

Take my word for it it will be a inline 6 with twin turbos specially designed for the next generation of the ///M3. Somehow I do have a hunch that the ///M Division Team will also offer another more powerful V8 for those that like to track the ///M3 perhaps the badge will be something like....

///M3 - V8 GT

What does I6 or V8 or V10 have to do with power dome

There are plenty of V8 cars with no power dome.

I think it looks nice and aggressive and M3 should have it in addition to functional hood scoops to reduce heat soak and better breathing.

thats a good point however im one who likes things on a car that are functional or have a purpose in some way, having a dome with no use is fake. that said i do think it would look nice on the new M3.

I believe the reasoning is the power domes in the e46 and e9x were purely a matter of being unable to fit the engine under the current hood. I recall watching a special on BMW and they specifically discussed how the M division went back to the powers that be and asked if they could add in the dome to accommodate the v8 - suggesting it wouldn't be there otherwise. If you look back at the e30 and e36, there was no dome.

As this car appears to be roughly the same dimensions of the e9x I would assume they would be able to fit either an inline 6 or a v6 under the hood without modification to the exterior. This is just my assumption.
