Don Juan
Ok...so I went to track my vehicle on the WW site and under the schedule for the Don Juan it has:
NEW YORK, NY U.S.A. 30/11/2005 30/11/2005 NEW YORK, NY U.S.A. 01/12/2005 01/12/2005 I was told it was suppose to arrive in NY on 11/30. I don't remember seeing it on the list twice before. Anyone know what this could mean? Perhaps a possible delay??? |

I would say it stops at two different ports in New York. Not to worry, it is only 1 day difference

Maybe the 2nd date of 12/1 is the scheduled departure from NY.

My ED 325xiT is also on Don Juan and I've been obsessively tracking it for the last 10 days from Bremerhaven on www.aislive.com. It did indeed stop at Port Neat (Northeast Auto Terminal) in Jersey City yesterday, and presumably discharged our cars then. It then seems to have moseyed over to Newark (this must be the second port) and is now sitting there. It's supposed to sail for Bailtimore later today.

Is there a search tool on the aislive.com site or do you click around the map to find you vessel. My 3 is on the Ingolstadt... can't locate. BTW, WOW there is a lot of Maritime traffic!

The aislive.com site has a somehwat limited range - it doesn't show you vessels crossing the Atlantic, for example. You need to get a fix on the general location of the ship - i.e., what harbor it is in, approaching or leaving, or at least a few logical candidates. Then you can zero in on those places, or surrounding area on aislive and do a manual search (looking for the vessel name on the map) - until you get to a harbor level. Then there is a list of vessels on the left. If you double click yours, a red circle will appear around it in the map. Hope this helps.

Went to the dealer today and my salesman said that my car went thru the BMW process at the VPC and was released to the trucking company yesterday. I should get it before the end of the week.

Wow. That was fast. According to my salesman, my 325xiT, also on the Don Juan, hasn't even cleared customs yet! Mine is an ED car. I wonder if that means it is a slower process for some reason?

I called my dealer about 15 min ago to tell him about not putting on the front tag and he told me that my car just arrived today! : It should be ready for pick up tomorrow.
I know people have asked this before...but it's hard to search something like this...Anything I should ask about, look for, or do when I pick up my car? |

Good for you. I am hoping for delivery before Christmas! As far as things to do when you pick it up... for some unknown reason, my dad always kicked the tires of his new cars...
Happy Motoring!

Congrats. Thats funny because I spoke to my dealer 15 minutes ago. He said it was just released to the carrier and should be at the dealer on the 7th. I can pick it up on the 8th or 9th. There is a post that has a dealed checklist of what to bring and look for. The best advice that I have seen was to bring a camera with a timestamp and take detailed photos of the entire car. Also, check all keys, functions, set-ups, and manuals. make sure dealer activates everything.

I was at the dealer yesterday and they had a delivery. Thought mine was on the truck. Spoke to the driver and he said they had a lot waiting at the port for delivery. They load sold cars as a priorty and dealer stock last. I guess I was just off-loaded late. The area that I brought the vehical from is a pretty wealthy area so maybe they did sell a lot . I am just a poor smuck.

make sure test drive it, ask the salesperson to show you how everything works. It is nice to see that everything works before you drive it home. |

So I picked my car up on my lunch break. Whole process took about an hour. Well, my dealer made sure he went over all/most of the features of the car. I kept saying to myself the whole time...."OK OK...let me drive it now" But I guess he had to do his job. Closing the deal didn't take more than 5 min. Just had to sign some papers and of course make the payment. He didn't even try to push the extra warrantees on me. But he did tell me that I could add them anytime within the original warrantee period at the same cost.
The car looks great and drives great too. I only got to drive about 8 miles mostly highway because I had to get back to work. But so far so good. Of course, I'll post pics as soon as I get a chance. |
