Talking Best F80 M3 exhaust sound yet! Revs at idle and acceleration!

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Quick disclaimer...

This car is not a production car. You will see that some stuff including the interior are not production ready. Also please excuse the iphone photo/video quality.

Now... where do I begin? I have never been one to believe in love at first sight but I was proven in the concept of it today.

The car is simply stunning in person. The stance of this car is amazing. The fenders look even better in person. The YMB (Yas Marina Blue), even though looks great in person, is not a strong color for this car. This thing is a beast in person and needs a much more bold color to look mean. In the photos and video, it looks much darker than it really is. I would say it resembles powder blue / LSB (Laguna Seca Blue) mix.

It's great to see that the car had some legitimate brakes on it that meant business! M Carbon Ceramic brakes - 4 pot rears and 6 pot fronts with light weight rotors all around. Bummer that they are going to cost a kidney and maybe two finger as an upgrade option.

The seats, even though I did not have a chance to sit on, looks amazing. I will say that the ///M logo on them is a bit tacky but nothing you cant not live with.

The exhaust... to give you the best comparison I will use my 2008 335i sedan exhaust and hope most of you would have heard something similar. The exhaust sounded like my 335i sedan with secondary cat delete, resonator delete, and muffler delete except it did have a muffler effect. The exhaust is very raspy and I am happy to stay that it sounds great! A hybrid of a N54 335i and the e46 m3 exhaust tone.

Enjoy!

No idea. I do the internet sales at Pacific BMW and usually have the pleasure of experiencing these machines but our rep was very conservative with the car.

That is little bit raspy. I hope it doesn't sound like tin can at 7600 rpm.

Again, this is not a production car! Nothing in these pix should be considered production ready.

I guess this is what the f80 s55 will officially sound like. Now I know what all the e90 s65 diehards were whining about.

This is making it to the production car, it's even std equipment. If you want Gloss Shadow trim you'll have to dig in your wallet

I did not order this car for the sound, that has become very clear to me. I am a fan of E9X, as some of the others are. The lighter weight, styling, and curiousity towards the new technology (having to come to gripes with it) was enticing.

HOWEVER, quite contrary to what it seems as the E9X was so popular, BMW is simply returning to its roots rather than moving away. The S65 was phenomenal, one of my favourite motors, and it was surely NOT the usual BMW M way. I'm okay with the sound as I have been a die hard M fan for years and this is just simply how they've sounded, with the exception of the S65. IMO, the E46 M was a terrible sounding car but I would have purchased one in a heartbeat. This is looking to be somewhat the same.

I'm completely okay with BMW returning back to its roots, as this is what I'm used to an M3 sounding like.

At idle and low revs the car sounds.....alright, but the exhaust note and rasp at high revs is just awful IMO.

When was the last time BMW made shadowline an option on an actual M car that you would have to pay for?

Does you first video represent the color more accurately in your opinion? and just curious what colors you think would be more suited for the M3.

Thanks for the great videos/photos
