Euro Delivery Journal: Sakhir Orange M4 (With a twist!)

CURRENT CAR STATUS: SOLD

I'm back in the states after an amazing ED experience. To those considering it in the future, trust me, it is well worst the hassle. Here's some of the shots from my this experience. I've put 1400 miles into the car, so feel free to ask me any questions.

Car Options:
Manual, LEDs, Exec, Passive, HK

Much credit to @AKBM3 for many of the great photos below!

A great video of my exhaust! I used an external mic attached to the GoPro. SLOW lap at Spa!

A photo journal of the Euro Delivery Trip! In Chronological order!

At the Welt with my travel companion!

Fresh out of the Welt!

Quick Wax prior to the roadtrip to Spa

At Spa!

M Cars hiding at the castle

A tight squeeze on the way out of the Castle

At Nurburgring!

Outside the GP circuit

At Sabine Schmitz's Saloon!

No Accidents at the ring!!

In Italy, near Stelvio

After the drive up Stelvio, repacking the truck and replacing fuses. Faulty 12v charger popped all 4 12v outlet fuses.

Last leg of the journey back to Munchen with a stop at Neuschwanstein Castle

Last night with the car! Hiding in the garage at the Leonardo Royal

A Twist!

At the top of Stelvio Pass, Em and I hiked up the ridge away from the others and after a little misdirection, I asked her to hold my new camera filter. She found herself holding an odd box. To her excitement, in the box was a ring! I proposed to my long time love and she said yes!

Somehow this beauty:

Stuck with this goofer:

Been thinking about Swissvax, but I've also been eyeballing Auto Finesse Illusion wax. I'm going to hit her with some Optimum Spray Wax immediately upon delivery at the Welt and then strip her for a proper new car prep once she arrives home.

Any recommendations over the Jet Seal for a good base sealant?

+1 on the Optimum Car Wax. It's my go to topper when I just want to do a quick wash.

I used to use Jet Seal 109 but it never had the durability that I'd hoped for. I replaced it with Klasse Sealant Glaze and was very happy with the durability, but the application was always a pain. That finally led me to Menzerna Power Lock. Easy on, easy off, and the durability is easily on par with Klasse. Give it a try!

I've been looking at the Power Lock and like what I've seen. I've also been considering Blackfire Wet Diamond.

This is my new car prep plan (pending paint condition):

Citrus wash
Clay/Optimum Eraser
Menzerna SF4000
Menzerna SF4500
Blackfire Wet Diamond / Powerlock
Topping with one or two layers of a "spicy" wax

Opti-Coat 2.0 and never have to wax the car again. That's what I did when my car was brand new. After a couple of years I decided not to reapply the Opti-Coat 2.0 and just wrap the whole car a different color instead. Lol!

Can't wait to see your build appear in your garage. So excited for you!

Im glad to hear it has worked well for you. I was looking into this option and In know you are as obsessed as I am how our cars look! How much did it cost to do a treatment and can you recommend a place to get it done? I am willing to drive a bit for quality work.

I applied the Opti-Coat 2.0 myself. It's really not that hard. The hard part is making sure you have a garage so the car can sit in there and the stuff can cure for 12 hours.

Lol! No problemo. Actually lighter colors are harder to apply the Opti-Coat too than darker colors. But with good light it's fine. My sister lives up near where you do, so I can stop by sometime.

Oakley, if you ever get tired of Sakhir, I get a lot of people complimenting me on my car's "paint job" these days. Lol!

Sounds like a plan and will be in touch! I am pretty awesome with the BBQ and will throw in a Gas Gift card to make it interesting

Looks good to me, but keep in mind that SF4000 and SF4500 are so close in cut that you likely won't need to use both. Unless the dealer-installed swirls are really bad, you'll probably only need to go at it with SF4500 and a black pad.

BFWD is awesome! I've never had the opportunity to use it myself since I've been super happy with Power Lock, but the gloss I've seen from BFWD on friends' cars is amazing. The two sealants trade blows all the time in head to head comparisons, so you won't go wrong with either one. Regardless of your pick, I'd say that two coats of sealant with 8 hours of curing time in between is totally worth it.

As far as wax goes, I like Collinite 476 for the durability because I get lazy sometimes. When I really want stuff to pop, though, I really like CG Pete's 5050.

Also don't forget to seal/wax your wheels!

Hands down, this is the wrap I would choose.

this thread is fantastic really, sub'd. I was just thinking about stocking up on some care products, was going to poke around for some recommendations - but this has already given me a great start! Excited to follow and see how everything turns out down the road.

BSM is a part time job. That's one of the reasons I decided against it.

If I WERE to get BSM, I'd opti-coat it. Get it done professionally. They have a different version, that cures faster, and is a little thicker. If you can find a good detailer, the results can be amazing. They do the wheels too.

And stay away from automated car washes
