So today i am driving home and this service lights pops up on my instrument cluster. Its a Car with some S's on top. i went to look it up on the manual and it says ROAD WORTHINESS SERVICE DUE!!!
Okay, now before anybody tells me to click on the search buttom, i did a search and i saw some other members with the same question but nobody answer, What they do on this Road worthiness service. And why is it even needed? Thank You Ricardo |

How long have you had the car? From what I can find it looks like it's just a fixed-time inspection. BMW refers to it as a "Roadworthiness inspection." It's probably just to check a number of things like a 48-point service check.

I actually just started getting the code also (11,154 miles).. I really don't think its a 48 point inspection.... If it was, I would think it would be better documented in the owners manual. Not to mention, I would think there would be more posts about it here on the forums... How many miles do you have on your car?

I have about 9000 miles on my car, and its a schedule for this service on 09/2007. Its not a state inspection because my inspection expires on 12/2007. I read the whole manual and found nothing about this service. It has a *( next to road worthiness service) but it doesn't explain anything about this service light.
I have no problem taking it in, but i would just like to know, what is it for? I understand all of the other services have to be done, oil, brake pads, spark plugs, etc.. but Road worthiness, it doesn't make sence. |

Is it running ok? When did you take delivery of the car? I had an NY car, and my first service inspection (for NY state) went off one year after delivery, it was not set to the actual date.

It is just month and year, so the car will keep reminding you all month, every time you hit the ignition, until you reset it to another date. I actually like the feature. Helped me to remember to do my safety inspection this year.
