It won't be that exact distance between the cars, as the gap develops over a speed from 0-100MPH. But at a steady 100MPH, a gap of 0,4s between two cars, means a distance between them of roughly 4 car lengths.
Yup 4 cars lengths to 100mph would sound about right according to your math. Beyond 100mph the gap just grows and grows like what happened in Gustav's Video against the 991 Carrera 2S.
