It won't be that exact distance between the cars, as the gap develops over a speed from 0-100MPH. But at a steady 100MPH, a gap of 0,4s between two cars, means a distance between them of roughly 4 car lengths. So it will not necessarily look that impressive watching them do a head to head race...

You cannot do the math that way. You cannot mix time to distance and time to speed.
Further, we do not know how the numbers were achieved for both cars (1 foot roll out for example).
