Based on the different tests so far, it seems that the Giulia does indeed launch much better that the M3, very much likely because of the sticky r-compound tires. But it has to be noted that the Giulia-Q also keeps pulling stronger than the M3 even as the speeds build up. So it is not only a question of tires.

You probably mean "rotating mass" here, as "unsprung weight" has no incidence on acceleration per se.

The mass factor of a wheel-tire combo is about 2X, so even if the 20" wheels on the M3 are a few pounds heavier, it is rather negligible on the grand scheme of things, the Giulia will still have a higher effective mass than the M3 (effective mass takes into account the inertial effect of rotating mass).
