I am an American living in Germany. I work for the US Military as a civilian over here. That is how I have lived here for so long, legally.
Ok here are my top picks for restaurants in Nurnberg city.
Bratwurst Röslein
Schäuferla (also "Schäuferle", "Schüfeli", "Schäufele" or "Schäufelchen") is a traditional dish from Southern Germany. It is made from the pig's shoulder meat, which gives the dish its name, "Schäufele", or the pig's scapula. Very soft tender meat with crispy fat on top. So yummy!!
Bratwurst Röslein
Rathauspl. 6
90403 Nürnberg
Bratwurst Röslein is located to the left of the main market square and Nurnberg's famous Frauenkirche(Church of Our Lady).
Bratwurst Röslein is a medium sized restaurant. Not too big nor small. It's just right for me. Very simple, charming German decor.
Röslein is known for the yummy bratwurst but they also serve fish and other meats here.

Heilig-Geist-Spital
Heilig-Geist-Spital Nürnberg (Holly Ghost Hospital, back in 1339)
Spitalgasse 16
90403 Nürnberg
Heilig-Geist is a very large and traditionally German restaurant. Its kind of dark and charming in the evenings. The dining room is rather large. I bet they can serve 150 or more people at ease at once. You still get good service. It's just a large dining room. Grab a table that over looks the river & bridge.

Nurnberg's Kaiserburg (Castle)
You can walk to the RIGHT of this pic and walk up into the castle for a great view of the city!! During the day, the castle is open for tours. Also IF you walk thru the Castle passage... there is a nice beer garten and coffee house called the Hexenhäusle (witches house) which is nice to visit on a sunny day. Also great views of the Kaiserburg from the "other" side.
Burgwächter restaurant is on the left side of this pic.
Burgwächter restaurant is on the left side, where there car's are parked.

The Burgwächter is located under the Kaiserburg(Nurnberg's City Castle) and its quite cozy and small. Excellent food and drink. I always enjoy eating here.

SORAT Hotel
Schöner Brunnen
Nürnberg's
Frauenkirche in the main city market square.
IF you are looking for a hotel in Nurnberg... this place is nice. While I have not stayed here... But I have stayed at their sister hotel in Regensburg and was quite nice.

When visiting Nurnberg be sure to visit the
Schöner Brunnen(beautiful fountain)... There is a brass ring on the front of the fountain... spin it THREE times to make your special wish come true! It is a very well know tourist attraction located at the edge of the main market square.

When I visit Nurnberg I almost always park at the
Parkhaus Hauptmarkt garage. It's safe and clean and well lit. IF you follow the signs for the tourist office(located next to the Schöner Brunnen) you will find this parkhaus. I think they charge about ~2 euros per hour's stay.

Neef Confiserie Café is just to the LEFT of this pic. Inside the parkhaus is where you pay for your parking ticket fee at the machine.
IF you exit the back part of the garage... you will pass by
Neef Confiserie Café It is a really nice bakery/coffee shop. They have the greatest displays in their windows. I always walk past for a look.
