The BMW recommended ride heights will have the roll centre taken into consideration and "roll centre" is theoretical pivot point of the car leaning left and right. The lower the car, the lower the roll centre and the more the body will roll with a given spring rate. Running the rear lower will soften the rear suspension and induce understeer. It's likely that the recommended ride heights maintains the suspension geometry it's designed for and provides the roll centre's that results in optimum handling balance with the spring rates supplied.

Although the HAS is good for cosmetic enhancement, if it doesn't handle well on a race track, the ride heights are possibly outside the recommendations.
