Is the main reservoir cap behind the intercooler towards the windshield?

How could I tell if the intercooler failed internally? I have no check engine light and the car doesn't leak a drop on the ground.
This is your intercooler reservoir. It generally does not have issues itself with leaking, seams weeping etc.
