Mkoesel, I have a difficult time understanding your point. We argued a very very broad point. The general notion here was 8k rpm would be how high the engine would rev. This was consistently heard and argued by all members, I chose to argue that it would be lower. I set a 7500 rpm and up redline, the redline arrives much sooner than the revlimit. The revlimiter is 7600 rpm, this is where fuel cutoff happens. When I look at the very s55 specs here on this site, peak power is at 7300 rpm and looking at the m3 tach, it is pretty obvious that the redline has to start much sooner if the revlimiter hits at 7600. Simply put, i do not wish to argue this, I just don't think you win this one. If the revlimit is 7600 rpm, redline has to be much sooner, I dont see how anyone could argue that.
