BMW is selling winter sets that are 255/40/18 square on the 640m wheels, which are 8.5 and 9.0 inches wide. These are harrowers than the OEM summer 18"s (the 513M) which are 9.0 and 10.0 inches wide.

Tirerack is recommending 245/265 for OEM 18"s, but I expect that's based on the OEM 513M 18"s at 9.0 and 10.0.

Yes, I've got 18" 513M's and am installing Bridgestone Blizzak LM-60's in 255/40/18 square. They are on closeout at Tirerack for $650... No one was willing to guarantee that they'll work, but a few folks are going in this direction and I'm rolling the dice as they were only $650.

A set popped up in the classifieds a week or two ago with tires mounted and they'll look like below.
