Now, I know this is totally biased, but to my eyes, all M3's look GREAT. Sure the E30 looks dated, but in a "I'd love to have that classic car" way.

My point was that because Porsche 911 has been so evolutionary it has kept even early cars looking great IMO. There is not much similarity between an E46 M3 design and the E92- it is quite a revolutionary change as with the F80- this tends to make the older model age faster IMO. You can be driving a 10 year old 911 and to most people it will look very similar to the newest model- not talking about whether the car looks good or not, just how a car ages with each generation.
A Porsche 993 is an old car but because the basic shape and details have been carried over with each generation and only tweaked it maintains that familiarity which helps it when it comes to looking dated.
