It definitely feels bigger. No question there. It may not be a “replacement” for an M3 but I did just replace my M3 with my M550.

Yes, both M3 & M550i are amazing in their own different ways.
If your drive is mostly straights, M550 is more fun. I might quickly get bored with M550 if driving on twisty roads because of its weight.
Different tools for different jobs!
