Sorry to hear OP, nothing but frustration here.
I'm in the camp of never using wheel cleaners. Past experiences have taught me they do next to nothing that just soap/water and scrubbing can't do. If anything, I've found they make the wheels stickier, sludgier, and more difficult to clean after washing them off.
