One other convertible tip: when they're new the top can sometimes stick when opening. This is typically caused by one of the posts (that insert into the windshield frame) getting slightly out of alignment as the car settles. The easy fix is some silicon lube - I had a small tube from some gym equip and that fixed the problem permanently. Just apply to the post and bingo, no more problems.
Just fyi, because you don't want something that small to detour you or have you sitting at a bimmer dealership for 5 hours while they assess it.
