Even in the new United Sports Car Racing series (ALMS and Grand Am merger) which will be in its second season by the time an M4 could be readied, I am skeptical that we will see an S55-derived engine soon. I'm sure we'll see the F8x chassis there sooner than later though.

We probably never will. By the time R&D and the sheer required test hours are finally accomplished, DTM will be switching to 2L turbos. It makes sense to use the P66 until then.
