Pre-Delivery

Okay, here we go!

Back in late 2013, early 2014, I was looking at sedans that had a little performance. I wasn't sure what direction I'd be going in, but I initially wanted to jump on a 335i M-Sport Estoril Blue II. I also fumbled around getting an IS-350 F-Sport and a GS350 F-Sport. I was so close to making a big push to get one, but then I ended up on Change of Station orders to Korea right around the time the F8X made its initial leak and Official Press Release. That put all car buying options on pause, which was good because it led me here. The more we began to find out about this car, the more I got sucked in. I made the decision to take advantage of the BMW Overseas Military Sales program in the Spring, and would have to wait until the winter to place my order with an estimated six month lead time. In the mean time, I would proceed to swoon and live vicariously through those who took delivery. Just before I left for Korea in June, I headed to my local dealer to test drive the launch cars. I had two test drives in both the M3 and M4. Both are great cars, but the sedan, in my opinion looks better. It was the right choice for me with babies coming around the corner.

December 1st, 2014: The order.

I Placed my order with Pentagon Car Sales GmbH. I had a really tough time with options at first, but being able to watch so many of you take delivery made my choice easier than I thought it was going to be. If I was making the push to be one of the first to take delivery, I don't know that I would have picked the same build sheet. Most of my cars have been modest in terms of colors and modifications. I usually almost always default to white, metallic grey, or silver and I have only ever owned three different colors than the ones I listed out of the 20 or so cars I've owned. I couldn't pass on full leather, and I'm not afraid of SS. At the time I passed on the LEDs, but I would later learn that I couldn't resist the temptation to tick the box. The change order went through two days before the car went into production.

I also ordered this plate and most of you know from my Avatar. It's been ready for months

Production Week #5

For you military sales guys doing stateside delivery, your car will be recognized by BMWNA shortly after you receive your VIN. Just keep trying!

Compressing these screen caps make them look like shit. I guess it's better than giant pictures.
