The 295/30R20 PSS of the M5 was a perfect fit and provided a decent improvement because it was designed specifically for a 10" wide wheel and has a significantly wider contact than the CP 285/30R20 PSS.

To me this would mean as long as the tire is in spec on the rim it should be able to use its contact patch.
