Here's how I'd answer this question:

No, not all my cars are manual. My Tundra, which is my daily is of course automatic, but my 3 BMW M's are all manuals. I'm not super interested in non-manual M's, unless I maybe replaced the Tundra with an F97. If it's a fun/weekend car, then it HAS to be 3 pedals for me.

So in your scenario OP, the R8 would very much have to be a manual. Personally, I don't care if the automatics/dual clutches are faster, I just don't get as much pleasure driving them. I also think as cars become faster and faster, they become almost impossible to enjoy properly on the streets. Having a manual adds that layer that makes street driving more fun IMO.

Unfortunately, we all know the trend. This is why new cars just don't interest me. Don't get me started on all these 6-7 figure super/hyper cars that come out on a monthly basis, I think they're so irrelevant.
