I still think OP should go and complain to BMWFS about it and explain the situation.
It's not good that a dealership which is meant to keep customers is lying to peoples' faces not only to squeeze money out of BMW's warranty system but to get cash out of a loyal BMW customer, who may or may not return now that they've found out the truth.
