Thanks for finding some of that information.

I think the "fixes" that resulted in damage though were because the fixes failed.
Like the sprockets breaking, or them slipping as well.
Never heard of a good slip. It's a novel idea and somewhat interesting to think that there might be a mechanical safeguard on the valve train, but it can't stand to reasoning that this is true.

Sometimes a slip will not make contact. Sometimes slips cause catastrophic damage. I haven't seen a single scenario where a slip prevented any damage.
