275/40 18" is a much taller tire than BMW has used on previous cars like the E90. This is 26.7" in the rear, compared to 25.0" for E90 sizes. 255/40 18" for the fronts is a 26.0" tire.
The E9X M3s with 18s came with 245/40 and 265/40 tires.

Going to 255/40 and 275/40 on 18s only increases the diameter by about 8mm (0.31"). The 19s would increase by about 7mm (0.28"). Not sure where you are getting the extra 1.7" from .
