These are quite astonishing numbers.
As
mkoesel noted above, the F80 (34,677) easily outsold its predecessor E90 M3 (9,674).
In fact, there are more F80s with Competition Package (11,190) than there are E90 M3s from the entire production run.
This is great news for fans of the M3 Sedan going forward.
What's also interesting is the big drop in Manual Transmission take-rates.
The E90 M3 had a 44.64% global take-rate for the 6MT (US/Can=53.43% / RoW=31.07%).
With the F80 M3, the take rate for 6MT had dropped to 15.65% globally (US/Can=28.02% / RoW=3.54%).
This is not exactly a surprising trend (and the trend is expected to continue), but it will surely influence BMW's decisions on transmission offerings going forward.
Manual purists are likely to be in luck with the G80, but perhaps not with the generation after that.
