If you need the back seat or you love the feeling of strong low-end torque, get the M4. Otherwise, get the Cayman.

I test drove an M4 DCT and a Cayman 6MT. The M4 looks and feels much bigger. The Cayman looks, sounds, and handles better. The build and paint quality seem better on the Cayman. Also, the M4 is an unproven and un-debugged first-year model, while the Cayman has been out for a while without issues.

By the way, the Cayman S pulls pretty strongly when it's in the right gear. Even at low RPMs, it isn't too bad. For example, it manages to accelerate on the highway even in 6th gear, and it has decent pull in 5th. You do need to shift it lower to get strong acceleration, though, and even then it isn't what you get from the M4 obviously.
I assume everyone has seen the Cayman GT4 reports?
