I found that the best way to align it to minimize gaps and misalignment is to bring it closer to the middle so they touch/almost touch but also accommodating for the outer fin's misalignment. Mine was like yours in the beginning but I changed the outer fin's fitment of 100% to ~99% and the gap went from 80% to 99% by bringing it closer to the middle.
Essentially you're rotating it towards the center slightly while holding the fin flush to the wheel arch.
Were yours pre-drilled?
