"This was a 2019 BMW M6 with perfect service history. There were zero software/hardware modifications and no previous signs of any tampering. One day the owner turned the vehicle on and it started knocking, a few seconds later it locked up. He towed it in to us, we instantly inspected the oil and found huge chunks of metal shavings. BMW factory warranty is probably one of the best warranty out there, they covered the replacement of an the entire engine assembly. The customer was not charged a single penny."

It may be possible that this was due to manufacture defects; at least something that would have appeared during the warranty period
