While oil burning really is a non-issue, a better question is why do our cars suffer from oil leaks so often?
Valve cover gasket and oil filter housing seem to be super common. Had both of those on my 37k mile M4.
Do certain driving habits, conditions or oil have an effect?
I basically go for 2 short drives a day (8-12 miles each) so maybe that's it. Lots of heat cycles. Also use 5w-40 oil.
Or just luck/it being a BMW.
