so basically pompeo talked trump into knee-jerk taking out an iranian general, but they didn't think it all through, so when it all started going bad Putin called Trump and rouhani and told them to knock it off. In the meantime, iran's defense started testing its systems, some dude heard an alert and hit the red button before thinking through, and accidentally shot down a civilian aircraft.
