High cD is usually correlated with downforce (actually low lift, since street cars almost never produce actual downforce). I don't know if you've ever driven the E class at high speed but it's much, much less stable than my M3 at 150+ miles an hour. That kind of thing is important to M buyers, I would argue more important than slightly better fuel economy and lower wind noise.
