We don't know, but in this case it's not the spark plugs. If you know what the function, purpose and how a spark plug works then you would know that they would not cause this problem.
This is what we call troubleshooting.
Spark plugs don't have the ability to cause an engine to rev up uncommanded.
They are simply a component in lighting the air/fuel mixture.
They do not control RPM. A failing spark plug would cause the engine to NOT want to run, not rev up.
