According to Continental, the "SportContact" line of tires are bespoke tires for certain cars. Continental is a European company and it doesn't surprise me that the SC6 is prevalent to support those European cars the tire is made for, as well as other cars that use the same size tire.
The EC Sport just came out in the US last month, so keep an eye out for it.

As I am running SC6 I have no reason to look out for them.
The statement you posted (not particularly originated by you) makes no sense when looks at reality because special versions are made (and designated) for OEM, such as the special Audi Designations widely available.
Considering the large number of sizes the SC6 is available in, this goes much farther than the few models it comes OEM on. As you noted, Continental is an EU Company and the EXTREMECONTACTSPORTS are NOT AVAILABLE there. So the explanations make no sense with reality.
And Again, the SC6 beat the MPSS, not a tie.
So the statements (and reality) are nor consistent.
