Your post is very unclear...

But anyway, the amount that could be saved by going from aluminum to CF would probably be right about 7 lb. That is based on a very rough "back of the envelope" design rule that the weight ratio of a steel:aluminum:carbon fiber structural part is about 6:3:2 (or 1:1/2:1/3). The existing all aluminum hood only weighs 22 lb! It will be an very expensive 7 lb if BMW does so. I think we'll see a CF trunk since it would be replacing a steel part but it will likely maintain the aluminum hood.
