Yes, very possible. I had that same thought after reading the other content update threads and realizing that they were not US specific. I just wasn't sure I wanted to edit my post yet again.

In global markets, I believe that a third, even more basic audio option exists for the 4 Series, so it may be that it is optional for the M4 in some of those markets as well. If this is the case, the change may simply be that this equipment has been eliminated from the M4 parts list entirely, causing the former second tier audio to become standard as a consequence. However, this would not effect the US where we never had the low end option to begin with and, since 2015, have had the highest end factory audio system as standard equipment anyway.
