Update: I contacted BMW customer service, and they are contacting Crevier BMW to ask them to investigate this issue in more detail.
The plan is for me to get the car heat soaked, and go by the dealership next week to have a tech test drive it. I'll also print out this thread to show the dealership that other M3/M4 owners are experiencing the same thing.
My car is a 2016, and the maintenance plan for 2016 models covered the clutch and brakes as wear items. Legally, by covering the clutch under the 2016 free maintenance plan, BMW is already acknowledging that the clutch is a wear item.
