A couple things I'm gonna do when I get new rotors.

- First, I would coat the entire rotor with high temp clear coat to fight rust forming on the veins and drill hole bevels. This will allow you to drive right after washing the car without having rust water fling all over the wheel barrels. And it'll just look cleaner through out the life of the rotor.

- Second, new Akebono brake pads to evenly break in both the rotor surface and pads.

It's up to you if you want to do these steps; they aren't mandatory.
