I would get a 2nd opinion on that. I know that my friend picking up his 550xi without car play was able to get it added (even though I warned him he was wasting his money) before he left the dealer.

Yep, I tried that both from the car and from their desktop site. When I didn't see it, I called bmw and they replied my car isn't eligible for it. I haven't really followed up yet but I will.
