I also don't think it's sensible to keep these cars beyond the warranty/lease period. Thus, I don't think your options other than leasing is valid unless you have a ton of money. Extended warranty/maintenance plans for the M cars are ridiculously expensive (around 7-9k, adding 150-200/month more to your payment) in addition to the cost of new tires, alignment, balancing tires, rotors, and god knows what else. These cars, while they excite us all brand new, are not meant to be kept outside of 3-4 years window.
Leasing may seem cheaper but in the long run it is far more expensive. The extended maintenance plans generally aren't worth it (that 7-9k could have been savings for maintenance.). Once you own a car you no longer have a payment.
