The M3 will be fine in the winter with proper winter tires. I've been driving RWD BMWs through the winters in CT for many years and never had any problems as long as I had the snows on. Plus they are so fun to slide around in the snow!

Can't stress this enough though - you need proper winter tires or you'll be in for a wild ride. The rubber makes all the difference.
