And possibly the optimum that can be achieved on a car that is based on a family saloon...

So credit to BMW for at least trying to get as close to 50/50 as possible, instead of just doing an Audi and creating nose heavy cars. Without adding ballast, it's probably not realistic to expect a 40/60 weight distribution on a M car.
