I haven't had any issues with XP10s at least on a daily driver when it comes to rotor wear.
My 370Z still have the XP10s on it, all during the summer months. I had 10s on my Mini as well, and I drove in -30deg C going ice racing with that. I understand it wears more than a pure street pad, but I wouldn't worry about it.
Maybe the XP12s are more aggressive?
