The new M3 with the S55 engine probably sounds more European or traditional BMW M3 like. I really like the sound track as it seems to stand out more and has more aural drama than the more subdued V8 burble of the current gen M3.
And it's probably not quite fair to compare a modified M3 with Akra exhaust to a pre production M3... And in a blind test; How many could tell that M3 from a modern Mustang or 'Vette?

Thats a compliment to the M3 for sounding like Mustangs and Corvettes. Who wants a vacuum sounding car? I would never drive a week sounding car no matter how fast or how well in handles.
