It was once sacrilegious for BMW to have turbos, but here we are. It was once sacrilegious for BMW not to have a manual gearbox, but the next M5 will not have one.

I think as power continue to increase north of 500+ hp, it just makes more sense to have AWD and this BMW sacrilegiousness will fall by the wayside as well. I'm not sure there's anything sacrilegious at BMW anymore.

As a Canadian resident, it may make more sense to get AWD as a better year-round car. And if the AWD weight penalty is not that great (as has been reported by MB), all the better.
