After speaking to the guys at the BMW booth, they said this would be a sleeve over, which would be using your stock assembly, much like Dinan does. I mentioned Dinan, and Jake and the other BMW agents who flew in from Germany said pricing shouldn't be much different from the Dinan sleeve-overs which are $1600 at the moment.
I'm sure other available sleeve-over/spring kits are great, but this product makes much sense to me than a whole new coil-over. No one better to use their own stock suspension than BMW themselves, instead of a third party product installed over a BMW shock/strut assembly. They know their own R&D.
This is also much better in terms of warranty claims. Even with Dinan considered.
If I remember correctly, they are hoping for early to mid 2016 release.
I'm sure this is just speculation and who knows what BMW might actually do. They've surprised us before, but what they said makes sense for the time being.
