quality and value of LCI improvements aside, I must confess feeling nervous when buying a first year production. Even with things overlapping in other models, still I've heard too many stories of early model year issues. My 2006 M3 has been a near flawless ownership experience and the fact that it was the last year for the e46 is probably a big part of it.
