Mine felt like it started very intermittently as well fwiw. It was only really really cold days after it had been sitting overnight. Subsequent restarts after that, it would never smoke.

I guess just something to keep an eye on for a while. The Pure warranty lasts a pretty decent while so you should be good either way.
